Our evening at L'Idylle was perfect! Sally

History

Come share our ongoing adventure

L’Idylle is first and foremost a story of love and passion. A love for life and for the people with whom we share it. Our highly innovative cuisine and our passion for this art will entice you with seductive, mouth-watering new flavours to satisfy and surprise your senses.

L’Idylle nevertheless has a story of its own that began well before it opened its doors. Not the least of which is the historical (some would say magical) setting in which it lies. It is a story to which a new page is added with every new guest with whom we have the pleasure to share a memorable evening.

We look forward to welcoming you!

Your chef and hostess

A story of love and passion

It may have taken nine years, but Emmanuel Charretier and Hélène Legras have made their dream come true.

With a career path that has allowed him to fulfill his talent in highly-regarded kitchens in France, Australia, the United States and Québec, it is in Dieppe, New Brunswick that Emmanuel Charretier and his spouse Hélène Legras have chosen to make their dream of becoming owners of a French gourmet restaurant come true. But all this travelling was not for nothing. Although both born in France’s Loire Valley, some 40 kilometres apart, Hélène and Emmanuel met... in New York!

Love at first sight quickly transformed into a mutual respect for human values, health and the environment. Nine years later, L’Idylle was born and continues to uphold these same values throughout its operation.

So what’s in a name? An idyll is of course a tender and naïve love story affectionately shared in an ever evolving spirit of innovation: the perfect relationship in an ideal setting of harmony and sincerity.

The Bourque House, Acadian heritage site

During your next visit at L'Idylle, take a step back in time and discover the oldest known Acadian home in Dieppe.

Ask your host Hélène Legras to show you the History and Genealogy of the descendants of Antoine Bourg (Eustache Bourque and Nathalie Léger), written by Gérald Bourque in 1991.
